Club Nintendo Launched, Quite Buggy

A few nights ago, the American Club Nintendo service finally went live. Oh wait, but it was quickly taken down. But then it went live again! But it was then taken down, again.

But, the third time is a charm. It finally went up for real, and I've gotta say... maybe they should have waited a little bit longer. Seriously, this website has some kinks that need working out.

First and foremost, there are severe bugs regarding account info and such. After I transferred my My Nintendo account over to Club Nintendo, I got to registering a game: Super Smash Bros. Brawl. After painstakingly filling out the survey to tell Nintendo just what I thought about the game (it was great), I clicked "Finish", and was treated to a wait of about 10 minutes, after which I was given an error message. Shit.

So, I simply returned to the homepage, where I had somehow been logged out. As I typed my username and password, I was told that they were incorrect. I couldn't log in. After about 20 minutes, I could suddenly log in again. But I had to completely redo the survey. And later, the system somehow lost track of the 50 coins I had gained from doing the survey. Luckily, they soon reappeared, but it was a frustrating experience.

Now, on to the good. There are some very cool prizes, such as Game And Watch Collection, which costs 800 coins. Each Wii game you register (and fill out the survey for) nets you 50 coins, and each DS game nets you 30. So, I only need to register 16 (Wii) games to get a game (well, G&W Collection is sort of a game).

Ah yes, and the question on everyone's mind. Does it remember games that you registered with My Nintendo? The answer seems to be yes, since there's a reminder right in front of my face, asking me to fill out the survey for Phantom Hourglass, which I registered way back when I got it.

Sure, Club Nintendo needs some patching up, but at least we finally have it. Head over and check it out. club.nintendo.com
