Club Nintendo Launched, Quite Buggy

A few nights ago, the American Club Nintendo service finally went live. Oh wait, but it was quickly taken down. But then it went live again! But it was then taken down, again.
But, the third time is a charm. It finally went up for real, and I've gotta say... maybe they should have waited a little bit longer. Seriously, this website has some kinks that need working out.
First and foremost, there are severe bugs regarding account info and such. After I transferred my My Nintendo account over to Club Nintendo, I got to registering a game: Super Smash Bros. Brawl. After painstakingly filling out the survey to tell Nintendo just what I thought about the game (it was great), I clicked "Finish", and was treated to a wait of about 10 minutes, after which I was given an error message. Shit.
So, I simply returned to the homepage, where I had somehow been logged out. As I typed my username and password, I was told that they were incorrect. I couldn't log in. After about 20 minutes, I could suddenly log in again. But I had to completely redo the survey. And later, the system somehow lost track of the 50 coins I had gained from doing the survey. Luckily, they soon reappeared, but it was a frustrating experience.
Now, on to the good. There are some very cool prizes, such as Game And Watch Collection, which costs 800 coins. Each Wii game you register (and fill out the survey for) nets you 50 coins, and each DS game nets you 30. So, I only need to register 16 (Wii) games to get a game (well, G&W Collection is sort of a game).
Ah yes, and the question on everyone's mind. Does it remember games that you registered with My Nintendo? The answer seems to be yes, since there's a reminder right in front of my face, asking me to fill out the survey for Phantom Hourglass, which I registered way back when I got it.
Sure, Club Nintendo needs some patching up, but at least we finally have it. Head over and check it out. club.nintendo.com

Prince of Persia:Review
I beat Prince of Persia about a week ago and I'm just getting to the review right now so............. yeah.
Prince of Persia is a great game, the story is pretty good, and the voice acting is both horrible and great at the same time. The story follows the nameless Prince, who got stuck in a sand storm while looking for his ass... I mean donkey. He finds shelter in a canyon, which is also the tutorial area for the game. Right after the first cutscene you meet Elika, who is the princess of the kingdom you are in. About 10 minutes after this, the main villain, whose name I can't remember, is released from a tree. Darkness spreads everywhere, blah blah blah, you need to get rid of it.
There are a few flaws, the biggest being that the game pretty much plays itself. I did a 3 minute segment where all I did was tap Y/triangle every once in a while. Another flaw is that after you've healed a zone, you need to go through it again to collect energy, which is used to buy Elika's powers with. These segments aren't optional, so half the game is spent backtracking.
On a lighter note, the graphics are amazing, using some of the best cel-shading I've seen. Also, the one-on-one combat is a good idea, but you're forced to rely on Elika too much. The ending is amazing, and I can't wait for the sequel.
Overall, I give this game
8.5 / 10

LittleBigPlanet Impressions
Well, I picked up LittleBigPlanet a few hours ago, and it's a blast. Sorry, I don't have any videos of the game or of my impressions, I'm still getting all that video gobbly-goop figured out.
But anyways...
- The game has an impeccable sense of style and a very jolly atmosphere. The graphics are great, and everything has a cardboard kind of feel to it. Reminds me of Yoshi's Story. Runs in 16:9 aspect ratio and 720p resolution. Beautiful. Texture work and sticker variety is incredible.
- The narrator is a funny British guy. I will say that there's a metric crap-ton of tutorials when it comes to the creative modes of the game, but the humor of the writing keeps them from getting stale. Plus, you get to learn how to do everything from cutting stuff up to gluing it back together!
- So far, the soundtrack is incredibly varied and awesome. I'd find myself listening to a song reminiscent of The Beatles' "The Fool on the Hill", only to have the track slide into a Jet Set Radio-like, funky beat.
- Finally, the gameplay is great. The Popit menu is available at any time, letting you place crap in whatever stage you happen to be in, customize your Sackboy on the fly, and more. The platforming is a bit wonky due to the physics-based engine, but it's also the physics that make the platforming so great. Level design is also quite good, and the level-creating tools are great too.
- I can't get to the online mode right now. Maybe the servers don't go up till the 28th?
- As far as first impressions go, LittleBigPlanet is a pretty kickass game. It has an incredible style and great humor, a clear emphasis on creativity, and it's just plain fun. I can't wait for when I can get online.

Little Big Planet Delay Update: Game to Be Released on 25th?
Well, tonight I went to GameStop to pre-order LBP (I got the code for those sweet God of War costumes), and I started chatting up the clerk. He said that Sony recalled the game discs simply to buy themselves some time to write a patch to remove the unsavory content (see the last post), and that October 28th is just a tentative date. He also said that the games will probably ship tomorrow, and that I might be able to pick up a copy. WOOT.

LittleBigPlanet Delayed Due to Discovery of XXX Content
Well, not really. One of the songs from the game's soundtrack quotes words from the Quran. That's the "inappropriate" content. Specifically, the two phrases "Every soul shall have the taste of death", and "All that is on earth will perish". A Muslim user of the Playstation forums noticed these phrases in this thread, saying "We Muslims consider the mixing of music and words from our Holy Quran deeply offending. We hope you would remove that track from the game immediately via an online patch, and make sure that all future shipments of the game disk do not contain it." I think that he's definitely on to something with that patch suggestion, and I don't understand why Sony is recalling all the games in this age of fancy patchery. But, I also don't understand what makes those quotes offensive to Muslims. If anything, I think the quotes scare people who aren't Muslim. I know I'm scared by the quotes. In fact, I'd like a comforting hug after reading them.To hear the offending song, click here (iTunes). It sounds like a jolly enough song, and the kind of track that definitely belongs in LittleBigPlanet. This fuss is all for naught, and only people who understand Arabic will hear the words, and only people who understand Arabic might be offended (but they probably won't, because who gives an ass if a musician quoted the Quran?), and I really just want to get my hands on this game. Guess I'll have to wait for October 28th.

New Star Wars MMO from Bioware Announced

That was yesterday's big news: Bioware, developer of the acclaimed title Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox and PC, as well as hits like Mass Effect and Neverwinter Nights, has announced that they are working with LucasArts on a new entry in the series, an MMORPG called Star Wars: The Old Republic. As of now, the game has only been announced for PC, but console versions are rumored to be under consideration. As for monthly fees, I have no idea, but if there are none, I'm definitely in. I haven't played any of the other games in the series, so this announcement has me quite intrigued. Oh yeah, and....

News: RE Five Control Scheme
People have been complaining about Resident Evil 5's control scheme, saying it will make the game less scary. However, all it does is give MGS4-like aiming, along with strafing and right stick camera rotation. Don't worry, you still can't shoot while moving.
